 Shellac Aftercare advice

I know you will absolutely LOVE your nails while you are wearing Shellac and I expect your nails to last flawlessly for up to 14 days as long as you give them a little care and attention during that time.

Shellac is pretty indestructible with normal wear and tear, and you can help the longevity of the manicure by wearing gloves if you are doing household cleaning and gardening. Activities that tend to be rough on your hands or using harsh chemical products without wearing gloves, can possibly mar your Shellac service. 

It is an essential part of the Shellac manicure to use a Solar Oil at least twice a day because it will substantially prolong the life of your Shellac, keeping the varnish flexible and ensure your natural nails and the skin surrounding them stay healthy and moisturised. I sell Solar Oil at £1.99 for a 3.7ml bottle.

If you are on holiday please be careful when using suntan oils or insect repellent solutions as many of these products can cause major damage to the Shellac colour coat.

If there is ever some damage to the Shellac coating I hope you find the advice below helpful.

If lifting or peeling is noticed please do NOT pick or pull at the lifted area, as this will cause the lifting to increase and could even cause damage to the natural nail. Please take a photo of the nail as soon as you can so that I can assess the nail and decide if a repair is necessary. Lifting and peeling will be repaired for free if I am informed within 48 hours of the manicure, but after that time repairs are chargeable at £3 per nail.

Shellac will need fortnightly or three weekly maintenance as there will be obvious re-growth. I always advise booking a shellac removal appointment at the time that the manicure is done to avoid any delays in removal. For shellac removal I can -

• Remove existing Shellac do a mini manicure and apply a fresh new colour - £22

• Remove the Shellac completely and do a mini manicure so that your natural nails will look perfectly groomed - £5

It is never a good idea to try and remove the shellac yourself. As I provide shellac removal free of charge, there is no need to attempt an incorrect removal at home that may damage the surface of your nails. I will be able to remove Shellac safely using a professional product to ensure your nails remain in a healthy condition.
